Secondhand Baby and Kids Clothing

The owner of 1404 welcomed her first child this year, which has spawned the idea to start carrying secondhand baby and kids clothes. She immediately learned what all parents have experienced - these little ones grow SO fast! It’s a constant cycle of grief… so sad to fold away the now-too-small items yet swooning over the next stage as they continue growing. 

With how fast they grow and tons of parents getting registry items and gifts - there’s usually quite a few items in every child’s wardrobe that don’t get worn or hardly get worn. We want to keep these lovely items in circulation and extend their lifestyle. 

In August, we did our first baby and kids clothes pop up to test the market. We wanted to ensure our customers were as excited about this idea as we were… and thankfully they were! Mamas, mamas-to-be and loved ones buying gifts kept us busy all weekend. 

With the success of our ‘experiment’ we decided to commit to one dedicated rack of baby and kids clothes for the upcoming months. We bought little wood hangers (they’re so cute it hurts) and you can find the rack in the middle area of our store. Our team of 15+ vendors will continue to keep it stocked with lightly loved secondhand and vintage clothing as items sell. We’ve tried to make our prices very reasonable and have already received positive commentary from customers on the price points.
